Real talk - Nourishment

Real talk - creativity doesn’t bloom unless it’s nurtured. I wish I could say everyday when I roll out of bed and my feet touch the floor, I’m a ray of sunshine flowing with creativity but that ain’t the case.

Everyday we’re all presented with new challenges and opportunities. I’d love to say our talents determine the quality of our daily lives but unfortunately most of the time it’s our attitude that becomes the deciding factor. Your mood is going to be the catalyst that effects your creativity.

“Motivation is the fuel, necessary to keep the human engine running.” - Zig Ziglar

Listen, no one is perfect! You’re gonna have times when your mood and creativity are in the dumps but that’s ok! You have the power to change your mood and kickstart your creativity.

First, look at your surroundings. Are you creating an environment where your creativity can bloom? Are you surrounding yourself with positive people and motivation?

Second, are you healthy inside and out? Are you quick with a correction if someone compliments you? Are you staying up late and eating junk all the time. Listen, I’m not a fitness guru or a motivational speaker but we all have to take care of ourselves and sometimes need a splash of cold water to snap us back to reality.

If you’re not feeling great or feel like your creativity is non-existent, you do have the power to change this. You just have to be willing to put in the work, one small step at a time.

I’m sure you’ve heard “don’t make mountains out of molehills” when it comes to how you view the problems in your life. Whether you truly have a mountain or just a molehill, take that first step.

Create the best environment for yourself, even if it’s just some flowers to brighten your space. Start talking positively to yourself and watch your thoughts - for both positive and negative thoughts. Don’t allow negativity the resources to grow, instead put effort daily into creating a positive environment and you’ll soon begin to see noticeable changes. When you can start making time to look for beauty and excitement every day, that’s when you’re going to start turning your life around and that’s when your creativity is going to bloom - when it’s carefully and lovingly nourished.

Thanks for listening to my pep talk 🙂 trust me I needed it too! Have a great day!

April Session Spotlight

Photography is a unique craft and everyone has their niche.

I love wedding photography. It’s an honor to photograph a couple’s wedding. Knowing they’ll have these images to cherish as they hold on to those memories through the years. Shooting a wedding can be a stressful event, of course but it’s so rewarding all the hard work you put into it will show at the end. When I’m preparing to shoot a wedding I always arrive at least two hours before the ceremony. Normally, a wedding session will last around five to six hours. I’ll arrive with all my batteries charged, extra batteries for my flash if it’s allowed, extra SD cards pre-formatted, I’ll have all my lenses clean and sometimes I even pack some snacks into my camera bag cause you never know how busy you’re going to be.

I’ll always talk to my bride and groom before the wedding. I’m very easy to get along with and I am completely upfront about everything because I don’t want any kinks in their day. I want to make sure we’re vibing from the get go that way we’re on the same page. A lot can happen on a wedding day. It’s a very special and emotional day for two families. I’ve had cakes not be able to delivered or a cake get knocked over after it arrives - you never know what could happen.

My favorite thing to remind a bride is that it doesn’t matter what’s gonna happen, you’re gonna be married at the end of this and if that’s the only thing you can think of the whole day that’s all that matters. You’re going to get to marry the love of your life. Weddings are exciting and such a special day to be apart of. Families getting to see a bride in her wedding dress for the first time can be so overwhelming. It’s a day that brings out so much passion and love. I talk to my couples about what shots they want and what their expectations are. Sometimes my brides will even have a Pinterest board on their phone of shots they’re inspired by so I will have an idea of what their hoping to see. Even with planning it’s usually the unplanned special moments that warm my heart the most. One example is after the vows when their walking down the aisle it’s not uncommon for the groom to stop and kiss his wife again cause he couldn’t get enough kisses, it’s so special and it’s one of my favorites!

Once we’ve got the nerves calm I can go to work. I love detail shots! I look forward to ring shots at weddings, I love getting creative using their flowers, cakes, or boots in the shot. I have shots I try to get for every bride - their dress hanging, the bridesmaid dresses, the shoes, the bouquet, the jewelry, sometimes even their perfume bottles. Any detail shots or decorations around the venue the couple had made specific for the wedding. I want to capture all of the special things that they can look back on when they’re 80 and relive it. When I shoot a wedding and I deliver a CD to the couple I give it in order from start to finish so they can go through reliving their entire wedding from start to finish. Their day is going to be so hectic, they’re not going to see it how I saw it. I want them to see the whole thing and remember all the special moments. That’s something really important that I think about the whole time - if this were my wedding what are the things now that I may forget over time. I make sure I’m paying attention to those detail shots for them. Weddings do take a long time to edit. You’re gonna have these for the rest of your life and I want them to be perfect. Editing can be very tedious and time consuming so when you’re done you do a happy dance cause you’re so excited for them to see their photographs. I pour my heart and soul into weddings. From getting to know a bride and groom, to the planning, getting the shots and working my angles - it’s such a fun and rewarding experience from start to finish.

I’ve got my fingers crossed my next travel destination wedding will be Scotland! Thank you so much for checking out my blog! I plan on having a session spotlight like this once a month along with some additional surprises. Feel free to share my page and I look forward to hearing from you!

Hey everybody, thanks so much for checking out my new site!

I’ve got some things I’m still working on and adjusting a few things until I have it where I want it. Working on the new layout I’ve been going through so many old photos with clients, it brings back so many wonderful memories! That’s one of the joys I love about this amazing passion I get to call “my job”.

Sharing incredible, joyous moments that we can look back on and cherish. Life can fly by in such a blur sometimes it’s good to take a moment to reflect on what we’ve been through. It always brightens my day to hear from one of my friends I’ve photographed reminiscing about the photographs or the shoot we did together. From getting to photograph a family’s first moment with their newborn, an adorable cake smash, an early morning senior picture session, or even a non-stop busy day of shooting a wedding it’s always the same - I know the more I put in I always get back so much more in return. I see the effort rewarded when I see the smiling faces and the thank you cards, likes and shares on social media of ecstatic clients who allowed me to take a part in their special occasion.

Coming into this year, I want to keep this same motivation and good vibes moving forward. It always brightens my day to see clients so excited to share their finished sessions. There’s a rush of seeing their friends and family liking and commenting on the photos I shot of them. Being involved in someone’s special day is a great feeling. Part of that joy often starts with a gift. From introducing newborns, to announcing senior pictures, or even celebrating weddings - you can share a part of someone’s special day as well.

I offer gift cards for all of the sessions I provide. So whether you want to treat yourself or give a special gift to a loved one, you can always purchase gift cards of any amount for that special occasion. Thanks you so much for checking out my updated website

In the following months, I plan on updating and adding new content as I continue my exciting adventure in photography. Make sure to follow me on social media for quick updates and check back to see the additions I’m making on my site.

Thank you so much and have a wonderful day! :)
